The Nigerian Health Journal (TNHJ) is an open access, internationally peer-reviewed, English language, medical and health science journal that was established in 2000, as a publication of the Nigerian Medical Association, Rivers State Branch. The journal publishes quarterly scientific manuscripts that advance medical science or practice covering all aspects of medicine including socio-economic, political and legal perspectives related to medical practice. The journal’s scope covers medical and health science disciplines including clinical research, public health, nursing, pharmacology, laboratory practice, anatomy, physiology, physiotherapy etc.

 Introduction

The Nigerian Health Journal (TNHJ) is the official publication of the Nigerian Medical Association. By accessing the TNHJ website, submitting manuscripts, registering as an author or reviewer, or engaging with any journal-related services, users agree to comply with the following Terms and Conditions.

These Terms govern the use of the journal’s website, submission system, and all publishing-related services. Continued use of the journal platform constitutes acceptance of these Terms.

i. Use of the Journal Website

The TNHJ website and online submission system are intended for lawful academic and professional use only.

Users agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information during registration or submission.
• Maintain the confidentiality of their login credentials.
• Refrain from uploading malicious software, harmful content, or unauthorized materials.
• Use the website strictly for scholarly communication and publication purposes.

The journal reserves the right to suspend or terminate user access in cases of misuse or violation of these Terms.

ii. Manuscript Submission

By submitting a manuscript to TNHJ, authors confirm that:

• The work is original and has not been published elsewhere.
• The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal.
• All listed authors have approved the submission.
• Ethical approval has been obtained where required.
• All conflicts of interest have been disclosed.

Submission of a manuscript does not guarantee acceptance for publication. All submissions are subject to peer review and editorial decision.

iii. Peer Review and Editorial Decision

All manuscripts undergo editorial screening and peer review in accordance with TNHJ’s Peer Review Policy.

The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to:

• Accept or reject manuscripts.
• Request revisions.
• Withdraw manuscripts found to violate journal policies.
• Retract published articles where misconduct is established.

Editorial decisions are final and based on scientific merit, relevance, and compliance with journal standards.

iv. Article Processing Charges (APC)

Where applicable, authors are required to pay submission fee (at submission) and publication fee (at acceptance of the revised manuscript). These Article Processing Charges are outlined in the journal’s official APC policy.

Authors agree that:

• Payment of submission fee does not guarantee acceptance.
• APC payments are processed according to journal policy.
• Any refund is subject to editorial review and approval.

The journal maintains financial transparency and ensures that payment does not influence editorial decisions.

v. Copyright and Licensing

Upon acceptance for publication, authors may be required to complete a Copyright and Licensing Agreement.

Authors grant TNHJ the right to:

• Publish, distribute, and archive the article.
• Display the article in print and electronic formats.
• Index the article in recognized databases.

Authors retain rights to their work, subject to the agreed licensing terms.

vi. Intellectual Property

All journal content, including articles, graphics, logos, and design elements, is protected by applicable copyright laws.

Users may not:

vii. Limitation of Liability

Authors remain responsible for the accuracy of their published work.

x. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Any disputes arising from the use of the journal platform shall be resolved under Nigerian jurisdiction.
