Advertising Policy
The Nigerian Health Journal (TNHJ), the official publication of the Nigerian Medical Association, accepts advertising in both print and electronic formats. The journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of editorial independence, integrity, and transparency in all advertising relationships. Advertising revenue does not influence editorial decisions, peer review outcomes, or the selection of content for publication.
1. Editorial Independence
TNHJ maintains a strict separation between advertising and editorial content.
- Advertising does not influence manuscript review, acceptance, or rejection.
- Editorial decisions are made solely on scientific merit and relevance to the journal’s scope.
- Advertisers have no prior knowledge of specific editorial content before publication.
- Advertisements are clearly distinguishable from editorial material.
- The Editor-in-Chief retains full authority over all editorial matters.
2. Acceptable Advertising Content
TNHJ may accept advertisements that are relevant to:
- Medical and healthcare services
- Pharmaceutical products
- Medical equipment and devices
- Academic and professional training programs
- Conferences, workshops, and continuing medical education
- Health-related publications
All advertisements must comply with applicable Nigerian laws and professional regulations.
The journal reserves the right to decline any advertisement deemed inappropriate, misleading, unethical, or inconsistent with the journal’s mission.
3. Prohibited Advertising
TNHJ will not accept advertisements that:
- Make unsubstantiated or misleading claims
- Promote unsafe medical practices
- Encourage discrimination or unethical conduct
- Contain offensive, defamatory, or inappropriate material

4. Review and Approval of Advertisements
All advertising material is subject to review by the journal’s management before publication.
The journal reserves the right to:
- Request modifications to advertising content
- Reject advertisements without providing detailed justification
- Remove advertisements that are later found to violate journal standards
Acceptance of an advertisement does not imply endorsement by TNHJ or the Nigerian Medical Association (Rivers State Chapter).
5. Placement and Identification
Advertisements will be:
- Clearly labeled as “Advertisement” where appropriate
- Placed in designated advertising sections
- Separated from peer-reviewed content
Online advertisements will not be embedded within scientific articles in a way that may create confusion between editorial and promotional content.
6. Advertising Revenue and Transparency
Advertising income supports journal operations but does not influence:
- Editorial decisions
- Peer review processes
- Publication timelines
Financial relationships with advertisers are managed transparently and separately from editorial functions.
7. Liability
TNHJ does not guarantee the accuracy of claims made in advertisements.
Advertisers are solely responsible for the content of their advertisements and for compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
The journal shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use of advertised products or services.
